Governor Ahmad Aliyu Newly inaugurated Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu has announced immediate retrenchment of all the civil servants, Local Government Sole Administrators, Emirs and Governing Boards members lately recruited by his immediate predecessor, Aminu Wasiri Tambuwal.
The retrenchment message for the civil servants who were said to have been illegally recruited by the administration of Governor Tambuwal is contained in a press statement released by the Press Secretary to the Sokoto State Governor, Abubakar Bawa.
The Governor insisted that the "Civil Service recruitment made by the immediate past administration of Aminu Tambuwal after the 19th March, 2023 are hereby nullified with immediate effect."
Also, the State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu has reversed the renaming of Tertiary Institutions in the state and other appointments related to their Governing Councils and their relocations which were recently announced by the past administration of Aminu Tambuwal. According to Bawa, Governor Aliyu has directed that all the affected institutions are to revert to their former names and locations.
In the same news, Governor Aliyu has also suspended all the traditional rulers and chiefs that were recently appointed by the administration of Aminu Wasiri Tambuwal. He said their appointment shall be reviewed in due course to the public interest.
Governor Aliyu has also dissolved all the Local Government Sole Administrators Caretaker Committees who were recently appointed by the administration of Aminu Wasiri Tambuwal. With an immediate effect, the Sole Administrators of the Local Government are directed to hand over to the Directors of Administration in their various Local Government Areas.
In the same development, all Governing Boards of Parastatals other than the Statutory Boards are also dissolved by the Order of Governor Ahmad Aliyu. As well, all land allocations and other related transfer of ownership of the government property that were recently approved by former Governor Tambuwal were revoked with immediate effect.
Governor Ahmad Aliyu has also ordered that all "wasteful and unnecessary" auction of Government assets in the recent weeks by the administration of former Governor Aminu Tambuwal are suspended and would be reviewed in due course.
