President Tinubu's convoy in Lagos A lot has been said by some average Nigerians on social media platforms criticizing and defending the number of vehicles that make up the motorcade of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his tour from Lagos International Airport to his Bourdillon's home at Ikoyi, Lagos State.
Although nobody has been able to quote a particular number of vehicles contained in the motorcade, there have been condemnations coming from some citizens who are not supporters of the President, knowing that some citizens have still not forgotten that the period of a political campaign is over, unnecessary arguments like this will still occur.
I mean, let us assume there are up to 100 vehicles in the said convoy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, any time he visits Lagos, it should be considered not enough to bring up such critics in the real world.
This could be justified because he was visiting his home State, Lagos for the first time since his inauguration as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29th, 2023.
Interestingly, if Tinubu had not been given such a heroic welcome right from the airport, with many residents lying along the roads through to his Ikoyi House, many of his critics would have still said he was an unpopular President, even in his home State.
Tinubu has been the political father of Lagos, and South Western part of Nigeria for decades, such an electric welcome Should not have caused a social media uprising, if not for an ulterior motive.
Besides, there is a mirrored relationship between Nigerian and American presidential convoys. American Presidents parade fewer motorcades when in the States than when the president goes out of the USA. This is for the peculiarity of the security of an American President out of their country. American President is believed to be a key player in the global economy considering the status of the country, hence the security of its President may not be guaranteed out of the States.
Likewise, a Nigerian President taking economic decisions on over 200 million people with many of them angrily uncertain about what to eat the next meal period, should be considered porous, security-wise whenever he steps out of the Aso Rock Villa.
Justifying this, if a keen look is given to the convoys of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos, you will see convoys within the convoy.
In the motorcade, some citizens are criticizing to be President Tinubu's convoy, there are convoys belonging to all the service Chiefs who were both in Lagos to ensure his security and be part of Tinubu's first home visit to Lagos State as President.
In the motorcade, you will see convoys of many State Governors, mostly the five APC governors in his Southwestern region, and the majority of the over 20 Governors elected on the platform of his political party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
We should recall that some people are still looking for appointments, so political bigwigs across the country are definitely part of the said motorcade for which President Tinubu is being criticized.
Therefore, it could be wrong to assume President Tinubu controls all the vehicles contained in his motorcade from Lagos airport to his Ikoyi.
