Should Tinubu Be Voted By Igbo Because of Second Niger Bridge?

At a political function, recently, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, insisted that the Second Niger Bridge was constructed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and that should be considered enough reason for citizens in the region tooo, en mass, cast their votes for the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the forthcoming February general elections.

Although no one can take away the glory of the construction of the Second Niger Bridge from the ruling party, APC, there may be a need to separate concerns about the factors that should be considered in the course of deciding who is to be voted to the Office of the President, come February.

While glory and appreciation are given to the APC-led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for the construction of the Second Niger Bridge, we should all not forget to note that the bridge was built with the hard-earned taxpayer's money. This may imply that the glory for the construction of the said bridge could not be taken by a single individual, not even the President that oversees the construction.

Besides, like it or not, the personal competence of each presidential candidate would assist the electorates to decide on who will become the next president of Nigeria. This stands to state that the existing record of Bola Tinubu while occupying his most recent political office should be, highly considered in determining whether he should be voted for, by the Igbo or not.

Thankfully, Bola Tinubu was a former Governor of Lagos, a state that could be considered "Nigeria on its own".

How he treated the Igbo people during his administration and how he has helped the Igbo race that might have come his way should be regarded as determinant components for the Easterners to cast their votes for Tinubu, rather than banking on the Federal Government project to source votes for him. This will preempt how his government will treat the Igbo people as the elected president of the country.

If the construction of the Second Niger Bridge is to be used for Tinubu's campaign, then what project would be used by the political parties that have not been at the Federal in the past?
