Bishop David Oyedepo and the Rolls Royce The appearance of the founder of the Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, recently, at the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) in Abuja has triggered reactions from the citizens.
Bishop Oyedepo was a special guest of honor at the COZA's 25th anniversary under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.
The anniversary was in the midway when Bishop Oyedepo arrived and was received by Pastor Fatoyinbo. However, Bishop Oyedepo's arrival in a white Rolls Royce sent Nigerian reactive after pictures and video clips of the event escaped to the public.
People's reactions have been divergent as usual, as some people criticized the man of God's choice of rocking such an expensive car, even when the country and members of his church face ravaging economic hardships, some Nigerians align with Bishop Oyedepo claiming he is not a government official and should be allowed to rock whatever car he likes, after all, it is his money.
Ogwuche Pius's position was that Bishop Oyedepo's lifestyle should not be a problem for Nigerians. He said "Men of God are not our problem now and we won't criticise him. If he likes, let him come in a Wakanda jet, it is his money or the church that invited him. Our current problem in Nigeria is hunger, so focus on that Sir. Thank you.
Rufai Ololade spoke in the 5ingue as Pius claimed "Bishop Oyedepo is not part of Nigeria's problems, he didn't occupy any political offices in the country.
Iwu Success may said to be sitting above the fence, not disturbed by Bishop Oyedepo's Rolls Royce, however, he condemned flamboyant lifestyle saying "Nothing is wrong for a man of God to be rich, but the way he makes use of the riches matters a lot before men and God. The blessings of God are meant to be used to take care of the poor to the glory of God, not to live a flamboyant life. Lord Jesus says, learn from me, I am meek and humble.
Akpan Benjamin, however, recalled Bishop Oyedepo recently preached against "vanity" in his church. However, he was worried about comparing Bishop Oyedepo's lifestyle and the preaching he delivered.
Akpan said, "This is the same man telling his followers that vanity upon vanity is vanity. That you don't need material things for the heavenly race.
