Oke Alabojuton Road, Ikare Akoko It is an untold story by Olatunde Richard who happens to be the Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. He talked about road construction that almost cost the state Governor Akeredolu, his life.
He claimed that the road at Oke Alabujoto in the epicenter of Ikare-Akoko has been in a dilapidated condition for the past decades. The state of the road was so dreadful that it consumed so much life to the extent that the residents decided to be offering sacrifices to the perceived spirits that they thought may be living on the hill.
Olatunde wrote:
"It was a story of tears, pains, and agony.
"For several decades, the Oke Alabujoto road in the heart of Ikare-Akoko in Ondo North Senatorial District of Ondo State passed off as a graveyard.
"Innumerable accidents claimed the lives of countless residents and visitors who visited the community from other parts of the country for commercial activities.
"There used to be a myth around Oke-Alabojuto. It was believed that the hilly road was an abode of some ‘spirit’. Hence, residents offered sacrifices to atone for the ‘gods’ to stop the frequent death on the road.
"But the courageous Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, came and shattered the myth. The Akeredolu administration leveled the hilly road and constructed a dual carriageway. Today, it’s a new song for the people of Ikare Akoko. No single death has been recorded on the road since Governor Akeredolu’s intervention. Commercial activities in the town have since improved.
Ojekunle Tolulope Aniwura, an ex-corp member who served his NYSC around the place testified to the claims. Aniwura recalled that he also went through hell on the same road.

Aniwura said "I remembered this road when I was posted to Ondo State for NYSC, on getting out of the camp and going to my local government (Akoko North)our bus had an accident on that road, it was just God that saved us on that day, since then anytime I'm following that route, I'm always scared.
One Adeyeye observed that Governor Akeredolu has been sick since the road was completed.
