Nyesom Wike A source has indicated that the Rivers State Government under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike has allegedly arrested three led counsels for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
It was alleged that the arrest was to stall efficiency of the election petition that will be submitted by the APC before the Governorship Election Petition tribunal in the state.
It could be recalled that candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Siminalayi Fubara was returned winner of the March 18th Governorship election in the state defeating other contestants including Tonye Cole of the APC.
Mr. Tonye Cole, not satisfied with the outcome of the guber poll, has vowed to challenge the victory of Mr. Fubara at the Rivers States Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
Led Counsels to APC including Jerry Aondo, Esq; Dr. Sobere Nelson; and Odum Eyiba, Esq we're said to have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence and Surveillance Unit, Ogunabali by Market Square, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Our source claimed that the APC-led counsels were arrested to hijack sensitive data that could be used to challenge the PDP's victory at the tribunal from them.
The arrested APC led counsels were said to have been moved from the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence and Surveillance Unit, Ogunabali to the State Criminal investigation Department in the state.
Already, items which include laptops and exhibits required for their petition defence at the Election Petition Tribunal, such as Party Agent’s copy of Form EC8M, Certified True Copy (CTC) of the election results given to the party by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) among other sensitive materials were said to have been allegedly seized from the arrested lawyers.
Our source claimed that the arrest was intended at denying APC opportunity of being armed with necessary materials required to file a case with merit such that the party may suffer a technical knockout at the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
