The decision by the ruling party in Nigeria, All Progressives Congress (APC) to solicit the support of the mushrooms political parties ahead of the February 25th, General Election has stirred reactions among prominent political gladiators and residents of the country.

Many media houses, including the Cable, reported that APC has commenced plans to ally with smaller political parties in the moves to record a successful outing by the party during the presidential election.

Speaking on the new development, Fola Deji insisted that there is nothing wrong with the move by APC to secure the backing of the smaller parties in the country. He stated that it takes courage and good character for anyone to have decided to embark on such a mission. He stated that "it is a sign that any president produced by such an arrangement would be a listening one and, hopefully, a president that will prioritise the interests of the common Nigerians.

However, the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Daniel Bwala, stated that APC's action signifies fears of elections defeat.

Bwala said that "Afraid of imminent defeat, they are reaching out to smaller parties for merger and acquisition."

When asked to comment on the comment made by Bwala, another respondent, Jave Blessing stated that "a smart politician does not take chances. This has nothing to do with being afraid, in politics one vote count.
