Nigeria Police Force has reacted to a trending video clip where a team of mobile Police officers was seen escorting a Mallam to an abattoir to slaughter a cow which suspiciously looked like a continuation of the Sallah celebration by the Muslims.
Reacting to the trending video clip, the Police Federal Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi debunked the video to be an old video, and that the caption attached to the video is a rumor with an explanation that the event captured by the video has been long before now. He stated further that no police officer is currently attached to the Mallam.
Recall that many people have reacted to the video as if it has just happened, whereas the Acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun has ordered that all police officers attached to the Very Important Persons (VIPs) who are private citizens should be withdrawn.
Debunking the stance of the video, CSP Adejobi stated that the "Video Very Old, No Policemen Attached to him presently
We wish to state categorically that the viral video of a mallam who was seen escorted by some armed Mobile Policemen to slaughter a cow in his compound is very old. The video surfaced in the year 2022, not a new one as being widely and willfully circulated on Wednesday, 28th June 2023.
Stating categorically, the action taken by the Police Force when the incident occurred, CSP Adejobi recalled that "The Police took necessary action, even withdrew the policemen attached to him when the video went viral last year. We don't have any policemen attached to him at the moment.
In the video clip, mobile policemen numbering about 7 were fully armed escorting a Mallam in Babariga to the abattoir to kill a cow for the Sallah celebration.
