Everybody of a Manchester United persuasion could not fail to have been impressed with Rasmus Hojlund's debut as a substitute during the second half of the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal last weekend.

One team-mate who looked delighted with what he saw from the young Dane throwing his weight around in attack was Casemiro, who bumped into the striker as they waited for a corner to be taken by Bruno Fernandes, soon after a piece of unselfish work by our no.11.

When speaking to the local media in his homeland ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifier with San Marino on Thursday, Hojlund was asked what the Brazil midfielder said to him as he grabbed him by the shirt during the show of passion (see the incident below).

"He just said something in Spanish," revealed Rasmus to Danish publication Bold. "'Vamos' or something like that.

"Casemiro hadn't seen me play so he also told me after the match that he was pleasantly surprised by me."

Despite only making a brief appearance, the 20-year-old has quickly endeared himself to the Reds fans but is now having to focus on continuing his fine work at international level with Denmark.

Hojlund is joint-top scorer in the Euro 2024 qualifiers so far, with six strikes, and Kasper Hjulmand's team also face Finland in a key fixture at Sunday teatime.

Following that, we hope to see Rasmus make his Old Trafford bow in our next Premier League outing, against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday 16 September.

The centre-forward has reiterated his long-standing desire to join his boyhood idols, in an interview carried in Tipsbladet.

"There was a lot of interest but, for me, Manchester United has always been the first priority," he said. "The interest and many of these rumours happened early in the period when I made my breakthrough in the national team. Since then, there has been a nice dialogue and then something happens when the window opens, when it really gets going.

"I would rather keep it to myself [about the other interested clubs] but an interest arises and then the clubs start negotiating."
