Ilorin Emirates There are tense anxieties and fears amongst residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, as Muslims and Ifa Worshipers in the state have chosen the same date for their separate festivals.
The choice of picking the same date to mark the 2023 Ifa Festival and Ilorin Emirates Festival has been sighted by concerned residents as a means to former trouble and burn down the state by the two religious practitioners, going by the recent event that took place between them.
Recall that a few days ago, the Ifa practitioners announced August 20 as the Isese Day Worldwide, and the Ilorin version of the Isese Day will be attended by the Aare Ona Kakanfo, Iba Gani Adams.
The choice of August 20's Isese Day to be marked in Ilorin for the first time in history may not be separated from the recent imbroglio that happened between some traditionalists and Islamic clerics in an Ilorin suburb area.
The issue went viral in that it portrayed a brewery of religious controversy among petitioners of the two religions in the state.
Amazingly, early today, there is a message trending on social media that Muslims in Ilorin, Kwara State capital have also picked August 20 as Ilorin Emirates Festival day.
With the preceding controversial engagements among the two religious practitioners, the choice of August 20 as Ilorin Emirates Festival Day by Muslims; and Isese Day by the Ifa practitioners has increased tensions among some residents.
Government may need to intervene on time to forestall unforeseen occurrences in Ilorin and the country, at large.
