Police The Imo State Police Command has busted a kidnapper's den in the state,
leading to the recovery of some items while the arrest of some of the kidnappers was made.
The sting operation which took place on Monday, January 29th, 2024, was embarked upon by the Special Tactical Unit of Imo State Police command led by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma in synergy with some local hunters led to an arrest of five Kidnappers.
Also, the police command recovered the decomposing bodies of two persons believed to be victims of the kidnappers. Other items also recovered from the forest include telephones, wristwatches, shoes, and slippers which were suspected to be the property of the victims of the kidnappers.
While combing the forest, the Police arrested Muazu Awuta, 30 ‘m’ yrs, Abdullahi Abubakar, ‘m’ 32yrs, Ozeru Sabo ‘m’ 25yrs, Saddam Suleiman, ‘m’ 27yrs, Bashir Yahaya, ‘m’, 28yrs who all hailed from the same town in Jau Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The Imo State Police command said it swung into action following an intelligence report that some kidnappers are operating in a forest between the Avu and Ihiagwa axis of the state. The police, however, said it will carry out DNA tests on the decomposing bodies to ascertain their identities.
