Petrol Tanker Loaded With 45,000L of PMS Crashed in Oyo A petroleum tanker carrying about 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, further known as petrol, has overturned in Oyo State.
The Round Table gathered that the incident happened at Offa-Metta along the Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway.
The accident took place around 9 am on Saturday.
According to eyewitnesses, the IVECO trailer tanker, with registration number Jigawa GMN 413 XA and a capacity of 45,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, varied off the road and overturned.
The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr Yemi Akinyinka, substantiated the incident when contacted.
In a statement made available to The Round Table on Saturday evening, Akinyinka revealed that firefighters were immediately mobilised to the scene upon being cautioned.
He revealed: “The accident was stated at precisely 9:38 am on Saturday, 29th March 2025, via a mobile telephone summon regarding a trailer tanker accident at the above location.
“A crew of firemen, led by ACFS Tijani Bamidele, was promptly deployed to the scene. On arrival, we found an IVECO trailer tanker with registration number Jigawa – GMN 413 XA, loaded with 45,000 litres of AGO, which had alternated off the road, causing the tank to separate from the truck head.
“We swiftly took all necessary measures, utilising foam chemical compound to prevent a possible fire epidemic, and endured on standby for more or less time.”
