Raymond Asemakaha Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the appointment of Raymond Asemakaha as Managing Director, Benue Investment and Property Company Limited, BIPC.
According to a Press Statement released by Sir Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alia, Governor Alia found Asemakaha to be worthy of the appointment following his track records of achievement and competence to lead the agency to the next level.
"The Governor believes that, based on his experience and records of service in the public and private sectors, the appointee will deliver on the mandate and specifications of his job," Sir Tersoo stated.
Asemakaha has years of experience spanning many sectors that relate to the economy and finances. Before this appointment, he had worked for over 16 formulating policies, navigating public finance, and enhancing project implementation.
For eleven years, Asemakaha worked as a Relationship Officer at First City Monument Bank. He has worked for both national and international entities in the financial sector.
Reacting to his appointment, the Benue State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) condemned the choice of Asemakaha claiming the Governor has violated the principle of federal character.
Benue Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Bemgba Iortyom, in a press release claimed "The appointment of Mr. Asemakaha at BIPC adds to the growing list of Kunav sons heading such bodies as the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs which has another Kunav son heading the Committee at the State Assembly which oversights it."
Speaking further Bemgba stated that “Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state finds this development unacceptable as it blatantly negates the intendment of the principle of Federal Character enshrined in the constitution to ensure inclusivity of all component parts of the state in the holding and wielding of the powers and influence vested in such sensitive positions as listed above.
