Pastor Adeboye and DJ Switch Obianuju Catherine Udeh, a Nigerian disc jockey, songwriter, and musician who is popularly known as DJ Switch has accused the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, of running away from speaking the truth to power.
The controversial Lagos-based DJ Switch faulted Pastor Adeboye's speech and admonition to Nigeria to keep praying for the country in commemoration of the 63rd Independence anniversary of the country. She noticed that Pastor Adeboye has not been speaking truth to power despite the rate at which corruption occurs in the country.
She alleged that Pastor Adeboye has rarely called out those people who are responsible for the woes Nigeria and Nigerians go through but always encourages Nigerians to keep praying. She insisted Pastor Adeboye has not been emulating Jesus, the man he serves.
Pastor Adeboye's speech to mark the 63rd independence anniversary of Nigeria reads in part "Independence is talking about freedom, that is why we would be talking about freedom indeed. You may be enjoying independence from the colonial master and still be a slave to sickness, poverty, terror, among others.
"What applies to the individual applies to the nation, because a nation is made up of individuals, that is why you must join hands to bring salvation to our nation.
"If you borrow, if you are owing and you say you are free, you are deceiving yourself, borrowers are servants to the lender. You are not free if you are poor.
"Whosoever the Son (Jesus Christ) shall set free, is free indeed, that is why you have a responsibility to keep praying for the nation and those who are yet to be saved.
Reacting to Pastor Adeboye's call for prayer for Nigeria, DJ Switch said "Pastor Adeboye constantly urging Nigerians to pray for Nigeria… but rarely calls out the cause of Nigeria’s woes! Rarely calls them out for a failure to serve. The Jesus you worship served and called out corruption point blank! Some of una go say touch not my anointed! Anointing wey no dey anoint.
