Governor Abba Yusuf has confirmed that Kano State Polytechnic has fully implemented the 50% slash in tuition fees for indigenes of the State as ordered by his government in August 2023.
This was disclosed in a post on the X handle of the governor on Friday, March 08.
“As you can recall, we slashed tuition fees for Kano indigenes by 50% in all the state-owned tertiary institutions in Kano State, as part of our palliative measures for the state.
“I’m happy to report that this has now been fully implemented at the Kano State Polytechnic, the latest of many other institutions where the measure has taken effect,” the post reads.
In a related development, a source [direct beneficiary and a student of Ahamadu Bello University, Zaria] has informed the Round Table that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has also paid off all the tuition fees of Kano indigenes schooling in the institution.
This is in line with the government's motive to reposition the academic profile of Kano State and help the students to survive through the hard economic era Nigeria is currently going through.
