President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Adams Oshiomole Former Edo State Governor and Senator-elect representing Edo North Senatorial district, Adams Oshiomole has revealed the response he got from President Bola Tinubu when he relayed minutes of the meeting between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the workers union.
Trade Union Congress (TUC) met with Representatives of the Federal Government of Nigeria led by Adams Oshiomole, yesterday to discuss the development surrounding the removal of oil subsidies.
At the meeting which was boycotted by the Eastern faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the workers demanded an increment in the minimum wage and a pay rise for all union members. The Workers' Congress said that is the only way to alleviate the hardship brought by the removal of oil subsidies. However, the Workers' Congress expressed their support for the Federal Government's decision to remove the oil subsidy.
Reporting the response he got from the President, the former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomole revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has agreed to increase the workers' minimum wage. The president also promised to spend the money that was usually spent on oil subsidies on other infrastructural and economic development.
Adams Oshiomole said the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu disclosed to him that he recognized the negative effects of the oil subsidy removal and there are plans to cushion the effects.
