Andre Onana Manchester United's Andre Onana is one of five players competing for 2023's The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award.
The Cameroon international has been nominated largely on the back of his fine campaign for Internazionale last term, as he helped the Serie A club go all the way to the Champions League final, before producing a fine display, albeit in vain, against Manchester City, in Istanbul.
However, his first two United appearances, against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham, do fit into the period being judged, between 19 December 2022 and 20 August 2023.
"Onana produced one of the standout goalkeeping performances of the year in the 2023 Champions League final, making a string of stunning saves and impressing with his pinpoint distribution," wrote FIFA.com. "While his team were eventually edged out 1-0 by Manchester City, he further enhanced his reputation as one of the world’s pre-eminent stoppers. Onana joined Manchester United in July 2023."
The best fifa men's keeper shortlist are:
Yassine Bounou (Sevilla/Al Hilal & Morocco)
Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid & Belgium)
Ederson (Manchester City & Brazil)
ANDRE ONANA (INTER/UNITED & CAMEROON)
Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Barcelona & Germany)
