A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathon and a member of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Reno Omokri, has unveiled the only condition that may stop the former Vice President of Nigeria and 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, from winning the forthcoming presidential election.

Omokri, who is one of the forerunners in the handling of the Atiku Presidential Campaign, stated that with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the race for 2023 presidential election with Atiku Abubakar, he said it would be easier for Atiku to triumph. Citing reason that both Peter Obi and Tinubu hail from the Southern part of Nigeria, it would be hard to defeat Atiku who he regarded as the only formidable presidential candidate from the Northern part of Nigeria.

In his statement, Omokri hinted that except for Tinubu or Peter Obi stepping down for each other, he sees nothing stopping the victory of their candidate, Atiku Abubakar. He said "It is impossible for the South to win the Presidency when you have two strong Southern candidates against only one strong Northern candidate. The South has a chance if Obi steps down for Tinubu, or if Tinubu steps down for Obi. Outside that happening, Atiku will win."

Eligible voters in Nigeria will troop out in numbers to cast their votes and select a new president of the country on February 25th, this year. About 18 political parties are in the race. However, four of them are considered top-notch. They are the ruling party, All Progressives Congress; the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party; the newly formed New Nigeria's Peoples Party and the Labour Party.
