The authority of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, has ordered students of the institution, especially the female students to restrict their movement due to the commencement of the annual masquerade festival in Ijebu Ode.
According to the University community, the students of the institution and most especially, the female students, are to stay away from coming across the masquerade as the festival commences at noon, today.
The tradition of the community holds that masquerades take some routes leading to ìjèbú ode from its environs, and none of the masquerades must come across any female.
The affected areas are Epe/ Ijebu Ode route, Isiwo/ Ijebu Ode route, Ijebu Imushin/ Ijebu Ode route, Ago Iwoye/ Ijebu Ode route, and Odogbolu/ Ijebu Ode axis of the community.
The Students Union of Government of the institution has also released a memo to commemorate the sit-at-home order for the students of the institution.
The Round Table learned that any female or nonindigenous of the community who comes across the masquerades will be spiritually attacked by the masquerades.
