Nigerians Booed Atiku for Attacking Tinubu Over Rivers State of Emergency
Atiku Abubakar
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed dissatisfaction on the decision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which led to the declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers State.

Condemning the declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers State as an indication of political manipulation by President Tinubu, the former Vice President and ex-presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through a press statement, said "the declaration reeks of political manipulation and outright bad faith.

His statement thus read in parts:

"Anyone paying attention to the unfolding crisis knows that Bola Tinubu has been a vested partisan actor in the political turmoil engulfing Rivers. His blatant refusal — or calculated negligence — in preventing this escalation is nothing short of disgraceful.

"Beyond the political scheming in Rivers, the brazen security breaches that led to the condemnable destruction of national infrastructure in the state land squarely on the President’s desk.

"Tinubu cannot evade responsibility for the chaos his administration has either enabled or failed to prevent.

"It is an unforgivable failure that under Tinubu’s watch, the Niger Delta has been thrown back into an era of violent unrest and instability — undoing the hard-won peace secured by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua. Years of progress have been recklessly erased in pursuit of selfish political calculations.

"If federal infrastructure in Rivers has been compromised, the President bears full responsibility. Punishing the people of Rivers State just to serve the political gamesmanship between the governor and Tinubu’s enablers in the federal government is nothing less than an assault on democracy and must be condemned in the strongest terms.

Some Nigerians who were not comfortable with the position of the former vice president, took to Atiku's timeline to remember when the former Vice President was serving in Obasanjo's administration which supervised the declaration of State of Emergency in not less than four states.

Ubongabasi Odom challenged the former vice president to set aside political sentiment and accept the decision made by President Tinubu. He said "It's time to set aside bias and acknowledge that President Tinubu has made a wise decision. With only three House of Assembly members, it's clear that Fubara's administration is struggling to effectively govern Rivers State. Furthermore, his threat to disregard the Supreme Court's ruling is alarming and undermines the rule of law.

Speaking further, Odom said "While it's essential to allow for democratic dissent, it's equally important to ensure that such actions don't descend into anarchy and compromise the country's territorial integrity. President Tinubu's decision to announce a state of emergency is a constitutional move aimed at restoring peace and order in Rivers State.

"I'm proud to see our President taking decisive action to address this critical situation. His commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the well-being of Rivers State citizens is commendable," Odom stated.

Another Nigerian,, Daniel T. Haruna, who took to Atiku's timeline to express disagreement with Atiku's condemnation of President Tinubu's decision which led to the declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers State stated that "Sir, under your watch more than four states tested this with your principal and your silence meant consent, you can still advance your cause by not having to comment on any issue, please don't be an elrufai, plenty means to advance yourself, you were not statemanly when all this drama was unfolding, you owed to borrow and bear your experience to siminalayi on how to get to the top and remain there.

Hiifan Marami was of the opinion that Atiku Abubakar was among those individuals who misled the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Marami revealed that "Your Excellency sir, you are one of those that misled Fubara and cheered him to his fall.
Ordinarily, Fubara is a gentleman that wouldn't have engaged in any political fight. So, you need to also stay off Rivers state politics.

Adetunji Oluwafemi Adeoye suspected that Atiku Abubakar was being disrespectful to President Tinubu by not giving him the honor of the office he occupied. He noticed that Atiku, throughout his press statement, was calling Tinubu with no regard to the Office of the President he currently occupies.

He said "This man ooo, when Governor of Bauchi went to Rivers state to go and swear-in local government chairmen of the election that's not approved by House of Assembly, that time it's not partisan.... I noticed you don't even respect your President, you are calling him by name... Okay now, let's wait and see.
