The situation in Bokkos town in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State has become worsen as dozens of women took to the streets in protest of the recent massacre that occurred in the town. In the process, the administrative building and residence of the District Head of the Bokkos town, Michal Monday Adanchi were razed down by the irate women.
According to a source who offered information to the journalists on condition of anonymity, the incident occured around 12:30pm on Friday, January 5, 2024.
Recall that Bokkos is one of the 15 communities in Plateau State that were recently attacked by unknown gunmen which led to the untimely death of more than 100 people.
The source further stated that women in the town became hostile towards the traditional ruler after some people living in the community were arrested in connection with the recent massacre in the town.
The source further clarified that the women in the town first took their displeasure to tye police station where the arrested men were detained but to no end, they headed to the house of the district head and decided to raze it down following allegation that he is a sellout.
The source said, “The incident began at the police station where they expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community,” the source said.
“After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze.”
