Ademola Adeleke and Rauf Aregbesola Money is raining, Osun is booming, and the economic crisis hitting the Federal Republic of Nigeria has exempted the state of the Living Spring, or you rather call it the State of the Virtue in accordance to the recently updated legacy of former Governor Rauf Adesoji Akanbi Aregbesola, as the incumbent Governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke rolled out a whooping sum of N48.393 billion to fixed just 11.5 kilometers of roads in the state.
The administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has been said to be lucky, and a notice recently released by the state government could evidence the perception.
Some days around the one-year celebration of Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration, the government unveiled a statement claiming it will embark on an N100 billion infrastructural project. However, the statement was skeptical as no detail was given on whether the whole N100 billion projects would be evenly distributed across the 30 local government areas, and whether one Area Office in the state or a selected few would chop the bulk.
Days in, and day out, the state government keeps banking on the statement even with no evidence at sight.
Recently, the state government under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke commenced land excavation along Old Garage to Lameco Junction through the Oke-Fia area of the Osogbo, state capital.
It almost took the Governor and the opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the boxing ring before the state government could mention the name of the contractor handling the project.
However, no contract sum was released by the government for the project, and reacting to a series of provocations from the opposition party, APC, in Osun State; Governor Ademola Adeleke late Sunday, March 10th, 2024 rushed to the round table and came up with what the people of Osun State might have been giraffeing for.
In a short note released by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, N48.393 billion is currently being spent on the construction of 11.5km of roads.
Giving a breakdown of the roads project, the Round Table understands that two cities including Ede, the hometown of the Governor, and Osogbo, the hometown of the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, will engulf almost half of the N100 billion infrastructural projects of the state government.
The Round Table understands that N23.29 billion will be spent on the dualized construction of 9.3 kilometers of roads from Akoda to Baptist High School to Oke Gada in Ede, the hometown of the Governor.
Likewise, 2.24 kilometers of roads linking the popular Old Garage junction in Osogbo, the state capital, through Oke-Fia to Lameco Junction, are being spent to dualize and install flyover two bridges at the cost of N25.103 billion.
The Osogbo 2.24 Kilometers roads will consume N5.822 billion on asphalt layering, drainages, and its peripheral while N8.521 billion will be spent on the construction of a 4-span bridge at Lameco Junction and another N10.76 billion will be spent on the construction of a 7 span bridge at the Oke-Fia junction in Osogbo.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had vowed to embark on the template of the infrastructural development agenda of the former Governor of the state Rauf Aregbesola even though they were not keenly in the same political party.
The two flyover bridges that will cost the state N19.281 billion will be installed on dried land with no trace of water flowing under it. The roads are also not being constructed along riverine areas.
