Labour Party Members of the Labour Party across the states of Nigeria have decried the huge amount of money that was set out as the cost for obtaining the Governorship nomination forms of the party in Imo State.
Labour Party set the Imo State Governorship nomination form at Twenty-Five million naira (N25,000,000.00).
Some members of the party who are not happy with the fee set for the nomination form regretted the decision made by the party at setting the form fee. Many of the Labour Party members who expressed their lamentation over the exorbitant nomination form fee stated that if the N25 million governorship nomination form fee in Imo by the Labour Party should stay, it may mean that there is no more difference between the Labour Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Other members of the party regretted that if the governorship nomination form of the party could be set at N25 million naira, it clearly means that vulnerable people like Okada riders would not have hope of picking the ticket. They claimed that if the goodwill of the candidate is the basis with which the party picks its candidates, then the huge sum of money would always cut out some people with integrity.
However, some of the supporters of the Labour Party suggested that the governorship nomination form of the Labour Party should not be more than between N10 million and N15 million.
Notwithstanding some members of the party said they are not worried about the amount of money set for the Imo State governorship nomination form but the screening process that will determine who will pick the nomination form.
