Hon. Hudu A. Hudu of the Awe North Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has disbursed a bursary of N20,000 to each of the selected students who are beneficiaries of his bursary program from his constituency.
Hudu, a member of the All Progressives Congress(APC), gave N20,000 to each of the 147 students who benefited from the Special intervention program he aimed at cushioning the economic hardships biting the citizens. The beneficiaries include students from his constituency who are currently studying in any of the tertiary institutions in Nasarawa State.
Hon. Hudu also disbursed N10,000 to each of the selected thirty-three secondary school leavers who wish to enroll for this year's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME).
In his drive to give back to society, Hon. Hudu also gave out seven vehicles to groups and individuals in the Awe North Constituency of Nasarawa State.
According to him, "The gesture was borne out of his desire to improve the lives of Constituents in fulfillment of his 2023 campaign promises.
The lawmaker who assured Constituents of more dividends of democracy thanked them for their continued support and prayers to enable him to succeed.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe thanked the lawmaker over the gesture.
Akabe assured people of the Constituency of more projects that would have a direct bearing on their lives.
He revealed that the State Government had purchased assorted grains for onward distribution to the people of the State to cushion the current economic hardship in the country.
The Deputy Governor who lauded the 7th Assembly for their synergy with the Executive Arm however called on the people of the State to return to the farm to ensure food sufficiency.
Other dignitaries in attendance include the Speaker of the State Assembly, Mr. Danladi Jatau, and former Member of the House of Representatives, Mr Hashimu Abdullahi who commended the Lawmaker over the life-impactful gesture.
In his remarks, Dr Isah Abubakar, the Emir of Awe, thanked Hudu for the gesture and prayed to God to bless him abundantly.
The first-class traditional ruler urged the political class to find a way of addressing the hardship facing the people, especially the rising cost of goods in the market.
Abubakar called on his people and other Nigerians to continue to pray for leaders rather than curse them.
