Lagos Eye Screening for Primary School Teachers
The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), in conjunction with the AMA foundation, has flagged off a 14-day free medical eye screening for primary school teachers in the state.

The free medical outreach which commenced on Monday will run through 7th September 2023, at two centers, namely: St. Agnes Primary School, Maryland, and Oshodi Primary School, Oshodi. The exercise is targeted to reach 10,477 teachers.

The Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Dr. Hakeem Shittu expressed his gratitude to Mr. Governor for his relentless support in ensuring the welfare and well-being of classroom managers and for opening up the space for effective collaboration to enhance the delivery of quality basic education in the state.

He commended the AMA Foundation on the collaborative effort focused on addressing visual health issues, offering eye screening, cataract surgery, medical consultation, free drugs, and mental health awareness to the staff. He urged the teachers to take maximum advantage of the opportunity to examine their eyes.

A Board Member of LASUBEB, Mrs. Sijuade Idowu-Tiamiyu noted that the clear sight of a teacher is critical in delivering lessons to pupils, as well as reading from the tabs provided under the EKOEXCEL programme. “Hence, we have decided to partner with AMA Foundation and the Ministry of Health to ensure that everything they are getting here is of good quality”, she stated.

Director of Administration, AMA Foundation, Mr. Sa’id Bello expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting the improvement of quality teaching and learning through various interventions.
