The Jigawa state House of Assembly has impeached its Chief Whip, Honourable Dayyabu Shehu Gwalo Taura, and the Deputy Majority leader, Honourable Aliyu Madachi Kirikasamma over allegations of gross misconduct.
In a press statement issued to newsmen in Dutse, today, the Chief Media aide to the Speaker of the House, Malam Rufa'i Abdulkadir Zakari said the Assembly also approved the suspension of four chairmen that comprised Auto, Dutse, Ringim, and Gumel Local Government Areas for their varying offenses.
The Speaker's mouthpiece insisted the decision taken by the House was by the Local Government Law, Principal Cap 2012.
Similarly, the Jigawa State Assembly directed the Ministry for Local Government to warn the chairmen of Gwaram and Guri Local Government Areas against violations of the local government administration law as the state assembly would not accept gross misconduct.
In conclusion, the state assembly also directed the Ministry for Local Government to recall the Chairmen of Gumel, Yankwashi, and Birniwa Local Government Areas who were earlier suspended, after the completion of a full investigation against them.
Speaking to The Round Table, a former Local Government administrator, Malam Aminu Dutse, disclosed that the Jigawa state government is trying to ensure that local councils did not jump their constitutional duties and to sanitize the expenditure of the public funds entrusted to them.
