As over 93 million Nigerians prepare to go to the poll and determine who would become the leaders of the country at various levels of democratic leadership, there are projections that the country may end up going for an interim government. Basically, two circumstances are being considered to lead the country back to the situation that reinvested military rule in Nigeria in 1993.

First, there is a tendency that the February 25th presidential election may not hold. This is tied to various logical reasonings which include the likelihood of civil turmoil as a result of the socioeconomic hardship that is being imposed on the citizens through the scarcity of Fuel and Naira, incessant attacks on the facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which if not successfully checkmated, maybe enough criterion to shift the election date.

Should the election be shifted due to any of these factors, it might possibly invite political attacks which may further affect any rescheduled date for the election. Fast forward to May 29th, if the election fails to hold, there is no how the helm of the affair would be left vacant. Hence, a necessity for setting up the interim government.

Also, the February 25th presidential election may hold as scheduled but the election may be disrupted in certain parts of Nigeria. Consequently, such disruption may lead to a runoff as the election is being projected to be close to calling, with the possibility of a narrow margin between the two topmost candidates.

Political gimmicks, power plays and continuous civil chaos may stop INEC from being able to conduct the runoff. Fast forward to May 29th, there may be a necessity to set up an interim government and this may lead Nigeria to an uncertain political destination, good or bad, it may be too dim for an exact projection.
