The caretaker committee chairman of the Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State, Dr. Darlington Orji, has promised to rename the newly commissioned Omagwa bushmeat market to a traditional hunter in Ikwerre.
At the commissioning, the market was named after the name of immediate former Governor of the state and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike “Wike International Market” by the previous administration of the local government under the Chairmanship of Engr. Samuel Nwanosike.
Recently, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State sacked all the caretaker Chairmen of the 23 local government areas in the state who are loyal to Wike. Among the new caretaker committee chairmen appointed by Fubara is Dr. Darlington who was appointed to chair Ikwerre Local Government Area where Wike hails.
Dr. Darlington has been working days and nights to tackle the political supremacy of Wike in the local government area.
In the bid to wrestle power of political relevance from Wike, Dr. Darlington recently appointed 600 aides as a local government Chairman.
