A few days into the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, political gladiators are intensifying and as well rounding up their political campaigns and deployment of political strategies ahead of the February 25th presidential and March 11th Governorship elections a rosa the 36 states of the federation.

The situation is not different in Adamawa State as all the 18 political parties that have shown interest to take part in the forthcoming elections are also on the ground, deploying political tricks to ensure their victory over others in the state.

Of the political parties contesting both the presidential and governorship elections in Adamawa State, only Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are visible in the race.

Flashing back at the 2019 election results in Adamawa State and the current political circumstances in the state, it could be projected that both the presidential and governorship elections in Adamawa State would be closed to call, however, a winner will emerge.

Unlike in the last, both the APC and PDP governorship candidates picked Christian running mates from the same zone. Hence, there may not be an unbalanced voting pattern as per the religious parameter, in the forthcoming elections in Adamawa State.

Muhammadu Buhari is not on the ballot, so his influence may not be worth being reliable in influencing the voting patterns in Adamawa state, but the influence of the governorship candidate of the APC and regional purpose of Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate of the party will checkmate the influence of PDP in the state.

With the unity of the camps of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, and the camp of APC governorship candidate in the state, Aishatu Binani, the progressive party will surely have a good outing but the combination of the power of incumbency of the PDP governorship candidate who doubles as the state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the influence of the presidential candidate of PDP in the state, there is little doubt that PDP will do anything lesser than winning the state both in the governorship and presidential election, although the margin might be imaginary.
