How President Tinubu and Atiku React to Super Eagles Loss at AFCON Final
Nigeria vs Cote D'Ivoire
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has commended Nigeria's Super Eagles, Coach Jose Peseiro, the crew, and the entire management team of the Nigeria Football Federation over the great performance they displayed at the just concluded Cote D'Ivoire 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria's Super Eagles were the runner-up at the tournament after losing to the host nation, Cote D'Ivoire, in the final match of the competition on a scoreline of 2-1.

Reacting to the result of the match, President Tinubu commended the team for their hard work, assiduity, and sacrifice to come this far in the tournament, acknowledging the hurdles they consistently surpassed with steadily improving performance as they pulled through to the finals.

He admonished Nigerians to be of good cheer, emphasizing that we won a great victory in the hearts of Africa and the world by our grit, rigor, and determination in the field of play.

"Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love. To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit. My administration is here to make dreams come true," the President said.

In the same vein, former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, acknowledged the performance of the Super Eagles players in the competition, however, he was of mixed reactions, signifying the result fell below expectations from the team.

Alhaji Atiku said, "Not the result we all expected. Nonetheless, we remain #SuperEagles. Still proud of you guys. Well done, Super Eagles.

The Elephant of Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria's Super Eagles to lift its fourth Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, one ahead of Nigeria.
