The Nigerian House of Representatives has confirmed the appointments of the names of the proposed service chiefs sent to the house by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The confirmation of the service chiefs followed the adoption of the report of the House of Representatives ad hoc committee, which screened the proposed military chiefs.
The Ad hoc committee that screened the nominees of the president cleared Major-General Christopher Gwabin Musa as the Chief Of Defence Staff; Major-General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja as Chief Of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Emmanuel lkechukwu Ogalla as Chief Of Naval Staff, and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar as Chief Of Air Staff.
Recalled that following an instruction from President Bola Tinubu, the former service chiefs were placed on compulsory retirement and the newly confirmed Service Chiefs were appointed by the President on acting capacity.
Last week the Senate confirmed the four service chiefs after they appeared before the House. The four military heads will now oversee affairs of the security architecture of the country.
