Some hooligans, on Thursday, December 21, 2023, hijacked a bus conveying Christmas gifts meant for some family heads, otherwise known as Mogajis in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The bus conveying the gifts was attacked while making a U-turn at the Oja Oba area of the largest city in Wear Africa, Daily Post reports.
The source added further that the bus was coming from the Beere area and heading to the Olubadan Palace at Oja Oba before it was attacked at a stone-throw distance from the palace.
In the process, one of the family heads in Ibadan, Nurudeen Akinade, who is the Mogaji of Onilari Compound, was attacked while attempting to prevent hoodlums from taking control of the bus.
Although the name of the donor of the gift is not revealed, the bus was full of Christmas gifts meant for the family heads in the Oyo State Capital city.
The source added that some arrests have been made after the incident was reported at Mapo Police Station.
“The incident occurred yesterday afternoon. The hoodlums attacked the bus carrying some Christmas gifts meant for some Mojajis in Ibadan at Oja Oba.
“We were able to make some arrests after the incident. The hoodlums carted away the gift items donated to the Mojajis. I cannot say who is the donor. I don’t know if it is the government or an individual that gave them.
“We have reported the case at Mapo Police Station. The bus was carrying items like rice, chicken, and groundnut oil.
“We were able to recover some items during the search of some shops in the area,” the source said.
