Sheriff Oborevwori Governor Sheriff Gov Oborevwori of Delta State has suspended his Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Omoun Perez, over allegations of financial misappropriation.
The Governor, in the same vain, ordered the state's Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Bennett Agamah; Assistant Director, of Agricultural Engineering, Oki Yintareke; and the Chief Accountant of the Ministry, Gabriel Idiatacheko, to proceed on compulsory leave until further notice in line with civil service extant rules.
The decision of Governor Oborevwori was contained in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu.
The statement released by Dr. Emu showed that the suspended Commissioner and civil servants may have skeletons in their cupboard “following the outcome of the review of the implementation of the Greenhouse project by the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.”
The statement however stated that the decisions were taken by the Governor "consequent upon the interim report of the committee and to have unimpeded access to information during the period of the investigations.”
To uncover the roots and set the record straight, the statement further revealed that Governor “Oborevwori has constituted a seven-man committee chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, to investigate the claims and perceived infractions related to the management of the scheme by the ministry.
