Siminalayi Fubara Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has succumbed to the resolutions reached by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his move to resolve the political imbroglio that recently rocked Rivers State.
Recall that towards the last quarter of 2023, there was a hot political misunderstanding between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike, who was the immediate former Governor of the state and currently, a Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The crisis led to factionalization of the State House of Assembly as 27 of the 32 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly threw their support behind the leadership of Nyesom Wike. A faction of four members of the House of Assembly put their support behind Governor Fubara, and one of them, Ehie Edison was appointed a parallel Speaker of the factional four-member lawmakers loyal to Governor Fubara. Since then, Governor Fubara has seized to recognize Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule is the Speaker of the House.
Nyesom Wike
Following the Resolutions given by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resolve the crisis that had almost led to the impeachment of Governor Fubara by the 27 lawmakers loyal to Nyesom Wike, Governor Fubara has today recognized Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaehwule is the authentic Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Recall that towards the last days of 2023, Hon. Ehie Edison resigned from the Rivers State House of Assembly as both the Speaker and an elected lawmaker. Political gladiators have argued that Ehie's resignation could not be unconnected to the implementation of the resolutions reached by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also, political gladiators suggested that Ehie may be compensated by Governor Fubara to become his Chief of Staff or hold other key positions within the Executive cabinet council because the current Chief of Staff, though a loyalist of Nyesom Wike has not tendered his resignation from the position.

The Round Table recalls that many sympathizers had admonished Governor Fubara to defy the resolutions reached by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and continue with his hostility against his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike, but with this the Governor seems to have shut the emergency allies.
