Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the payment of N30,000 minimum wage for the employees of the Local Government in the State.
Governor Fubara gave the approval at a meeting he had with the leadership and principal officers of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Rivers State chapter, today, Monday, February 12th, 2024 at the banquet hall of Government House, Port Harcourt.
At the meeting, Governor Fubara also gave approvals for the:
Immediate promotion of Local Government workers in Rivers State with full financial benefits!
Immediate implementation of a N30,000.00 (Thirty Thousand Naira) minimum wage for Local Government workers;
Immediate implementation of the N35,000.00 (Thirty-Five Thousand Naira) wage award approved by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy;
Inclusion of NULGE as a member of the Local Government Pensions Board, as provided by law;
Implementation of a consolidated salary structure for Local Government workers retiring at grade level 17;
Reacting to the development, the President of the Rivers State chapter of NULGE, Comrade Clifford Paul appreciated the governor and prayed to God to grant him wisdom and wherewithal to steer the affairs of the state to greater heights
