Nasir El-Rufai It is in the news that the National Assembly has refused to clear the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and and two other nominees for the ministerial positions.
The news reported that the Senate has confirmed 45 out of 48 ministerial nominees.
The information has been misreported by some social media peddlers as if in reality, Mallam El-Rufai and the two others have been screened out or disqualified by the Senate. It was not like that.
What happened was that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and the two others have been successfully screened by the National Assembly with no objections from the lawmakers that represent their states, but as we understand the processes, the States Security Service also has a lot of underground security check up to conduct on the ministerial nominees. This is exactly what is delaying the clearance of the three nominees including Mallam Nasir El-Rufai .
Nasir El-Rufai, Stella Okotete, and Abubakar Danladi are among those awaiting clearance and the SSS may 4ar them any moment from now.
