The government of nepotism in Benue State seems not to have excused the state despite the state having a respected man of God, Fr. Hyacinth Alia as its Executive Governor.

In the past, the affairs of governance in Benue State have widely been dominated by the Idoma people whose kinsman has been the Executive Governor of Benue State. The hope of getting the state out of the old nepotistic governance was, however, raised when a man of God, Fr. Alia, picked the Governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state even though the party was not a favorite in the state.

Unfortunately, the hope has been dashed as the presence of the man of God, Fr. Alia, made no difference from what the state has been going through in the past.

As a consequence of this, Benue State's political space is currently restive as the three major ethnic groups in the state battle for supremacy although the Tiv has been favored so far, considering the merit of having the Governor of the State.

The government of nepotism in Benue State is reconfigured, setting the ethnic groups in the state at verbal war again, after names of the successful applicants for the jobs at Benue State University Teaching Hospital were published by the Management Board of the Hospital.

Since the names were published, the Idoma and Igede people in Benue State have been expressing their grievances over what they termed “the failure of a man of God to be Godly” in the affairs of men.

It was alleged that over 90% of the shortlisted successful applicants are Tiv people, the tribe of Governor Hyacinth Alia. This has infuriated the Igede and Idoma people in the state, calling on Governor Alia to convince them whether the state belongs to the Tiv people alone, or whether the Tiv people are the only intelligent people in the state who passed the aptitude test organized to screen the applicants.

Interestingly, in response to the grievances being expressed by the Igede and Idoma people, Tiv people in the state claim it [nepotism] is a “turn by turn” affair in the state challenging the Idoma people of Benue State to publish the names of the applicants recruited into the Federal University of Health, Otukpo, during the reign of Senator David Mark as the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Some of the commentaries by the residents of the state who contributed to the trend are:

Japheth A. Orship:
"If you are not satisfied with it you can go to court and notify me.

"Nonsense, If you fail the aptitude test exams keep quiet, stop poisoning the Igede and idoma mind.

"The process was very transparent and the shortlisted names are strictly on merit.

Shirleydoo Asemah IYANGE:
"No apologies whatsoever for this list, it's so sad you feel this way, this is the same thing TIV people have been facing for the past decade-plus when the list for direct short service is out for BENUE candidates only one out of ten is a TIV person, the rest are idomas, talk more of other federal ministries in Nigeria. Calm down bro, another David mark will soon come from zone C where all the the slots given to BENUE people will be taken over by Idomas 😎

Orshinyo Emmanuel:
"Please Mr Writer can you post the employment list for the Federal University of Health Otukpo let's see how the various tribes in Benue were equally represented. I'm not in any way supporting loop-sided appointment or employment but we were all here when Idoma's names appeared on Tiv Speaking LGAs.

Adekaa King Solomon:
"I only partially agree with you.

"Your paragraph 10 is totally wrong, in the year 2020, we applied for work at the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo, and from the Senior to the Junior staff none of the Tiv names came out, but what did the Tiv ppl do about it? Nothing.

"If you say the Idomas are more intelligent and more creative than the Tiv then I can't argue with you because I don't know when and where you carried out your research and as well, I don't know the ppl you used as your case study, so therefore I reserve my comment on that.

"But pls let us stop making posts that will bring hatred among ourselves when we know the truth.

Phillip Sughter Johnpaul
"My opinion is when we keep quiet on certain things because it favors us and shout when it doesn't. We will not get it right most of the time, my Tiv brethren will bitterly complain about marginalization, especially federal recruitments. Our brethren from other tribes in Benue will keep quiet because it favors them. Now that they are perceiving nepotism they want unity in diversity. Let's learn to speak the truth not only when we are victims.

Mozeez' Diary:
"Who told you Alia is a man of God?🤷

"Make una stop all these 'man of God nonsense '.

"Alia is a politician. Period!
