Rotimi Akeredolu The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has encouraged his colleagues who are governors of other Southwestern states that they should not be deterred as their collaboration remains firm and intact.
Governor Akeredolu stated this when he was playing host to the governors at his Ibadan residence where he is taking a rest on recommendation by his medical experts.
Recall that Governor Akeredolu who has been ill for a while returned from a German hospital where he went for medical treatment and decided to choose Ibadan, Oyo State capital as a place to rest following fears of the possibility of being disturbed by visitors if he stays within Ondo State where he is the incumbent Governor.
His absence from Ondo State has generated dust of debates, discussions, and reactions that many people believed had been taken to a political dressing room.
Probably because media houses in
Ondo State may not entertain their agitation, throughout last week, some of the radio stations in Osun State granted spaces to the Ondo State chapter of the People's Democratic Party to express their callings on Akeredolu to return to the state, handover to his deputy or tender his resignation letter as the Executive Governor of Ondo State. They argued that Akeredolu was elected as Governor of Ondo State and could not be ruling the state from Ibadan, Oyo State.
The development suggested a cordial relationship between Akeredolu's deputy, Lucky Ayedatiwa, and the Ondo State chapter of the PDP bearing in mind that Ayedatiwa is also facing an impeachment saga from the Ondo State House of Assembly.
However, today's meeting between other southwest governors and Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who doubles as the Chairman of the Southwest Governors Forum could be a relief for those calling for Akeredolu's resignation.
A report from the meeting stated that Akeredolu and his contemporaries discussed issues that directly affected the country, southwest and the people.
The Governors present at the meeting were Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Engr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Mr. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti.
At the meeting, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde said the Forum is praying for Governor Akeredolu, adding that he has the support of all the Governors in the region.
The only Governor of the Southwestern states who was absent at the meeting is the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
