Abba Kabir Yusuf Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the retrenchment of 3,234 state workers following allegations that they were illegitimately recruited by the previous administration.
The news of the sacking of 3,234 Kano State Civil Servants was unveiled by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, on Friday.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reversed many of the projects initiated by his predecessors, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, following his inauguration on May 29th, 2023.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf claimed that the 3,234 staff of Kano State who were sacked by his administration were ineligible to the Civil Service rules of the state.
"Most of those employed did not undergo processes of screening and recruitment interviews as expected by the service regulations; employed were found to have suspicious or forged certificates, while many non-indigenes were employed despite a large number of qualified unemployed indigenes roaming," Daily Trust quoted Abdullahi Baffa Bichi to have said this during a press release.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has been sacked by both the Tribuna and Court of Appeal hearing the post-election litigation that followed the March 20th Kano State Governorship Election in the state. The chance of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf surviving the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is narrow, and his hostility towards the previous administration in the state has been pinpointed to be working against his chances at the courts.
