Abba Kabir Yusuf Kano State has been in the news for various reasons in recent times, this time the State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is topping the headline with an exclusive discovery in the supplementary budget approved for the State Government by the Kano State House of Assembly which has been assented to Law of the State by the Governor.
In the supplementary Budget which runs for just three months of October, November, and December 2023 Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf spends a total sum of N11,493,814,975.20 (Eleven Billion Four Hundred Ninety-Three Million Eight Hundred Fourteen Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy-Five Naira and Twenty Kobo) to service the Kano State Government House where he resides with the Deputy Governor of the state.
The breakdown of the Supplementary Budget which was sent to the Kano State House of Assembly on September 21st, 2023, and got the approval of the House on October 13th, 2023 covers Personnel, Overhead, and capital expenditures on the Kano State Government House to make the official residence of the Governor and his Deputy conducive and attractively accommodating.
A total budget of N326,389,266,018.12 (Three Hundred Twenty-Six Billion Three Hundred Eighty-Nine Million Two Hundred Sixty-Six Thousand Eighteen Naira and Twelve Kobo) was sent to and got the approval of the Kano State House of Assembly for the three months running of Kano State under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In the three-month Supplementary Budget, N2,309,604,000.00 (Two Billion Three Hundred Nine Million Six Hundred Four Thousand Naira) is being spent to cover Personnel in the Governor’s Wing of the Kano State Government House while the wing of the Deputy Governor engulfs N61,005,000 (Sixty-One Million Five Thousand Naira) for personnel keeping his apartment in good shapes.
The overhead cost of the Governor’s wing of the Government House consumes a lump sum of N5,779,542,976.81 (Five Billion Seven Hundred Seventy-Nine Million Five Hundred Forty-Two Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy-Six Naira and Eighty-One Kobo) while the Overhead cost of the Deputy Governor was awarded N1,255,982,998.39 (One Billion Two Hundred Fifty-Five Million Nine Hundred Eighty-Two Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety-Eight Naira and Thirty-Nine Kobo).
Interestingly, no money was voted for capital projects in the Deputy Governor’s Wing but the Governor’s wing received Capital Expenditure of N2,024,680,000.00 (Two Billion Twenty-Four Million Six Hundred Eighty Thousand Naira) only.
In the same supplementary budget, the Kano State House of Assembly voted with bulk sum of N9,664,545,342.28 (Nine Billion Six Hundred Sixty-Six Million Five Hundred Forty-Five Thousand Three Hundred Forty-Two Naira and Twenty-Eight Kobo) including overhead cost of N21,000,000 (Twenty-One Million Naira) for the Office of the Speaker and N13,000,000 (Thirteen Million Naira) for the Office of the Deputy Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly.
