The residents of Gwamai Bayan makaranta quarters in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State have called on the State Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf to save their houses as well as farmlands from the erosion which is increasing every rainy season.
Speaking to our correspondent, Jabiru Hassan, who visited the area, the spokesperson of the people of Gwamai Bayan makaranta quarters Mallam Auwalu Bala disclosed that the threat of erosion is always increasing where many houses and farmlands remained at risk especially whenever it is rainy season, where he appealed to Kano State Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, to come to their aid.
"Last time, our immediate past Council Chairman, Honourable Ado Tambai Kwa constructed a wide drainage from Gwamai Central Primary School downwards to a wide shallow space where the erosion is becoming a threat, which minimized the impacts of the erosion, but due to the high level of rains, the drainages were broken by the water coming from the town, eroding farms and houses which is very disturbing," he lamented.
Auwalu Bala stressed that urgent intervention would help to control the erosion and keeping the area more secured, where he commended the ex-Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government for his kind intervention and thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for having a listening ears.
