Fact emerging from the arrest, and subsequent interrogation of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa by the Department of State Service (DSS) has unveiled how the former anti-graft boss spent lavishly on his lesser hall trip to Saudi Arabia during the last Ramadan in May 2023.
A report emerging from the interrogation of Abdulrasheed Bawa has stated that the former EFCC Chairman, BAWA spent $300,000 equivalent of 233 million nairas on his last Umrah Ramadan Trip to Saudi Arabia in May 2023.
Bawa travelled to Saudi Arabia for his lesser Hajj Umrah, alongside his wife and family members during the last month of Ramadan. This fact is emerging from his interrogation with the officials of the DSS who are currently drilling him on corruption charges that were leveled against him.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered for indefinite suspension 9f Abdulrasheed Bawa from the Office of the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He said Bawa's suspension is necessary because he needs time to attend to the bulk of corrupt allegations leveled against him.
Recently, Abdulrasheed Bawa was in verbal words with the former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle who alleged that Bawa has been involved in highly profiled corrupt cases, demanding huge amounts of money from high-profile politicians so that the allegations leveled against them would be swept under. However, Matawalle also alleged that Bawa has prepared to wage war against high-profile politicians that fail to se ttle their ways with him.
