Yahoo-Yahoo Suspects The Nigerian anti-graft agency, Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has rounded up some suspected internet fraudsters including a twin brother and five others while Police officers handed over three suspected Yahoo-Yahoo boys to the commission.
The arrests which were made on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Apete and Apata areas of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, had twins brothers Adio Taiwo Hassan and Adio Kehinde Hussein rounded up alongside their allies, Jeremiah Gabi, Dennis Gomina, Adepoju Noah Ibukun, Olabode Samson Opeyemi and Adewumi Adeboye Ayomide.
The Oyo State command of the EFCC stated that their arrests followed substantial surveillance and actionable intelligence received by the agency which linked their actions to "internet fraud".
In a piece of related news, the Oyo State Police Command handed over three suspects arrested by their officers at a patrol operation, and are suspected to be internet fraudsters [Yahoo-Yahoo] to the Oyo State command of the anti-graft agency.
Upon investigation, the Oyo State command of the EFCC released one of the three suspects arrested and handed over to them by the police on an account that "he is not an internet fraudster", but the two others, Joseph Isaac Justice and Ayoola Oluwatosin, suspects were locked up.
EFCC stated that the nine suspects will be charged in court as soon as investigations on them are concluded.
Toyota Corolla, one iPhone 11, and two Samsung mobile phones among other items.
