The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and detained for questioning the female aide-de-camp (ADC) of the wanted former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
Recently, Yahaya Bello was declared wanted by the Nigerian anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over allegations of financial misappropriation up to the tune of N80.2 billion while he was the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
Governor Bello has been evading arrest as he failed to present himself for questioning by the EFCC.
Hence, the police have withdrawn all the security men assigned to him as a former Governor of a state in Nigeria.
A report, however, recently claimed that Yahaya Bello was assisted to evade arrest at his Abuja residence by his security operatives when some men of the Nigeria Police Force attempted to effect the wanted notice served on him by the EFCC.
Consequently, Bello's female ADC and other police officers in his security team have been arrested and detained for questioning at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
"The officers were taken into custody on suspicion of aiding and abetting Bello’s escape from EFCC operatives, who besieged his Abuja home for his arrest on Wednesday," a report claimed.
This may open room for constitutional debate on whether it was not the right of the said security team to secure their boss since they were not properly served by the EFCC operatives about any mission to effect the wanted notice served on their boss, Yahaya Bello.
