Traditional Rulers During Annual Festivals In Kano. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has been asked to stay away from tampering with the four (4) additional Emirates created by the administration of the former Governor of the State, Abdullahi Gamduje. The residents asked the Governor to allow the Emirates to exist because they were created to bring more progress and development to Kano state's traditional institutions.
This expression was made by the residents in a series of chats with our correspondent, Jabiru Hassan, where they opined that from the creation of an additional four emirates, Kano state has witnessed rapid development in every sector and their continued existence would make the state more progressive.
Mallam Abubakar Adam from Karaye Emirate stated "The past administration has created additional emirates not to satisfy the greed of anybody rather than to promote the traditional institutions and to bring more progress into our state which we are now enjoying.
Similarly, Alhaji Usman Suleiman from Kano Emirate disclosed that "Traditional institutions are very vital in the promotion of peace and unity in our societies, and from what we have seen since the creation of the additional four Emirates, the development formula is now impressive at Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano Emirates, respectively.
In conclusion, those who talk to The Round Table disowned some groups of people who are calling on the Kano state government to dissolve the 4 Emirates and install the deposed emir Sanusi Lamido as the sole Emir in the state which is a great setback to the earlier developments recorded under the four Emirates.
