Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has rolled out a huge sum of money in support of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their brilliant performance in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, taking place in Cote D'Ivoire.
Dangote dashed out N100 million to commend the great performance of the Super Eagles which is already in the semi-finals and will be facing the Bafana-Bafana of South Africa.
Super Eagles defeated Angola in the quarter-finals after beating Cameroon in the round of 16, the knockout stage.
Bayelsa State government has also followed suit, splashing a whooping sum of $40,000 (the equivalent of N57 million) on the football team to appreciate their wonderful performance in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Zenith Bank Nigeria PLC has also gifted the Super Eagles team a sum of N40 million cash.
The winner of the AFCON, 2023 is expected to return home with a whooping sum of $7,000,000 while the Runners-up takes $4,000,000.
Nigeria's Super Eagles is considered a favorite to lift the trophy for the fourth time, even though the team was underrated by sports pundits at the beginning of the competition.
Nigeria's Super Eagles drew Equatorial Guinea in the opening match and advanced to defeat the host nation, Cote D'Ivoire, and Guinea Bissau in the group stage to finish on top of its group and changed the analytics of the pundits. More gifts are expected for the Super Eagles as it prepares to tackle its South African counterpart in the Semi-finals.
