A Federal High Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun State Capital, has on Thursday, February 1st, 2024, remanded one Olalekan Ajagungbade who is popularly known as Emir in Ile-Ife Prison.
Emir was arrested last year by the men of the Nigeria Police Force after receiving a series of complaints about him.
He was, thereafter, arraigned for murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery before the Federal High Court.
Emir, who will be re-arraigned on March 5th, 2024, was arrested by a special intelligence team from the Police Headquarters Abuja after the state command of the police force failed severally to get him arrested.
Emir was since 2022 declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, Osun State command, but was said to be allegedly harbored by the powers-that-be in the state.
Although Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has repeatedly denounced having a relationship with Emir, the foremost opposition party in Osun State, All Progressives Congress (APC) often accused Governor Adeleke of harboring Emir in his private residence, with security escort assigned to him to ensure his free movement around the state, which had made it difficult for the state police command to get him arrested.
