Guards have arrested a suspected cattle rustler, Aondoaver Baa, who has been linked to perpetrating insecurity and havoc in Benue State.
A statement revealed by the Special Assistant to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Social Media, Comr. Asortar James Asortar stated that Baa is believed to have played a pivotal role in the incessant violence hitting the state between farmers and killer herders.
The statement read, "An individual suspected of cattle rustler, Aondoaver Baa, was arrested in Mbanyamshi Council Ward, Gwer West by the Benue State Community Volunteer
Guards who are the first line of defense in security-related matters in Benue State.
"This person is believed to have played a role in the ongoing violence caused by killer-herders within the state.
"The arrest marks a significant step towards addressing the issue of insecurity and protecting the lives and livelihoods of the people of Benue State.
"It is imperative that law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to apprehend those responsible for such heinous acts and ensure justice is served.
