The Rivers State House of Assembly Complex is currently under demolition for unstated reason, and on order of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This is another dimension to the political rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Recall that recently, 27 of the 32 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly defected from the ruling party in the state, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party at the center, All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection posed a threat to Governor Fubara citing an impeachment process the House is attempting to commence against him. The demolition is to prevent the APC members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from having their seats to moderate the impeachment of Governor Fubara.
