Biafra Day: Now That Aba Is Burning

A van belonging to the Nigerian Army has been set ablaze by some youths in the eastern part of Nigeria.

This was an attempt by the youths to force the military personnel to obey the sit-at-home order given by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

IPOB had declared May 30 as "Biafra Day" in COMMEMORATION OF BIAFRAN HEROES AND HEROINES MASSACRED DURING THE 3-YEAR BIAFRA-NIGERIA CIVIL WAR.

Since the hard boys started to issue threatening statements ahead of today, Governor Alex Otti of Ábíá state had identified with them, claiming he wasn't going to stop their agitation.

A resident of Aba told the Round Table that all areas in the city have been hot since the incident occurred.

No report has been released about life casualties though, the negligence of Governor Otti might have cost the state more than it could be repaid.

This is life-threatening and Governor Otto likewise other Governors in the Southeast ought to have put up measures to forestall this but it seems politically relevant matter more to them than ensuring the security of life and property of the people of the state.

Another report also revealed that some miscreants believed to be IPOB members set up buses loaded with goods worth millions of naira in Enugu, Enugu State because they refused to obey their sit-at-home order.

Behold, if the state government could fail to ensure the security of life and property of the people of their state, and the Federal Government decides to declare a state of emergency in these states, what would have become the excuse from these governors?

Isn't the failure of Abia State Governor Otti to forestall this loss enough to declare a state of emergency in the state, if at all, to serve as a scapegoat to other governors who chose to play politics with the life and property of the people?

How do you think the Federal Government can holistically tackle these nonchalant attitudes by some state governors?

Are the miscreant boys sending messages of love to their people and other Nigerians who might have fallen victim either directly to their reckless attitude or a possible reprisal attack from the military personnel?
